Check your security code
Compare a code with the person you're chatting with. If it matches on both phones, nobody is in the middle.
Learn moreYour chats, one-to-one and in groups, are end-to-end encrypted on your phone, so only the people in the chat can read them. Around that, we give you simple controls over who can reach you.
Messages, photos and voice notes are locked before they leave. We carry them, but we can't open them.
Chat backup is your choice. It's encrypted on your phone with a key only you have, so we store it but can't open it.
If someone's security code changes, your chat tells you, so you can check it's still them.
A few simple settings decide who can reach you and what they can see.

People who aren't in your contacts land in Message requests. They can't see you've read anything until you accept.

Your chats live on one phone. Turn on chat backup and an encrypted copy, locked with your own key, lets you restore them on a new phone.

Report anyone from their chat. Your phone sends us the last five messages they sent you so we can look into it. They're not told. Block them at the same time, and they can't call or message you again.
What reporting sendsNo. Your phone locks every message, photo, voice note, sticker and reaction before it leaves, in one-to-one chats and in groups, with keys only the phones in that chat have. Our servers hold the locked message until it's collected, then delete it (after 30 days at most).
Link previews are made on your phone too. We never open your links.
Open the chat, tap their name, and compare the 60-digit security code, or scan their QR code when you’re together. If it matches, no one is in the middle.
If their code changes, usually because they got a new phone or reinstalled Rabt, your chat shows a notice right where it happened.
If you turned on chat backup, you can restore your chats on your new phone. Your backup key comes with your Apple or Google account, or you type the recovery key you saved. Your most recent chats come back first, in seconds, then older history, then photos.
If chat backup was off, your chat history goes with the phone, and you start fresh on the new one. Messages already on their way still arrive.
On your phone, your chats sit in an encrypted database, locked by the phone’s own secure storage.
Who you message and when, roughly how big each message is, your IP address and a device ID, when messages are delivered, and who you've blocked, muted or accepted. Not what you say.
If you report someone, your phone sends us the last five messages they sent you. That’s the only way message content reaches us, and only you can do it.
Your phone sends a hash (SHA-256) of each number, with the name you saved, so we can show who’s already on Rabt. It never sends the numbers themselves. Phone numbers are short, so hashes aren’t a perfect disguise; we protect them like any personal data, and you can skip this step.
Chats: vodozemac (Olm, Double Ratchet); keys made and kept on the device (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore); encrypted local database. Photos: a key per file, integrity-checked, metadata stripped, deleted on delivery or after 30 days.
Contacts: SHA-256 hashes. Sign-in: one-time SMS code, sessions per phone.
